Whoa.. like the 13 that runs through Standish? Very scary but also very believable... my horses spooked right through a split rail cedar fence when I was younger, and that same night a neighbor a mile away had called the cops because a woman screaming.

I got the biggest goosebumps EVER.
No "breeding population" indeed. To have that many together, must be a mother and young?

Several year ago I saw a brown big cat by our house, and last November hubby and I saw a black one across the road. I thought at first it was this old black tom cat that roams the neighborhood, but then I noticed this cats back was as tall as the top of the tires on a piece of equipment that we had parked over there. We live in the thumb, east of Birch Run and are only 1/2 mile outside of town. They are out there!!!!!!

Just this last fall I saw my first one. It was a young one on the side of the road and it still had it's spots. I didn't know they had spots as young cats, but I do now. It's tail was as long as it's body so there is no doubt in my mind what I was looking at.

Hi, they are also found in the U.P too. I can vouch for that myself and my cousin. My arab mare had her shoulder torn wide open by one, though the stupid DNR says they are not around here at all. You could see the actual claw marks all the way up her shoulder and across her side as well. Don't let anyone tell you that they are not around, because they are!!

Not confused at all. There is a possibility that these pictures were taken other than in MI. Anytime you see pictures of cougars on the internet there are always people speculating where the photos were taken. The fact is there are many who don't believe there are big cats in MI, IL, IN, WI etc. and will always say it's not possible. I don't know 100% where these were taken, just that they were sent to hubby by a fellow hunting friend who said they were taken in our state, possibly from the camera's owner. I suppose you can join the naysayer's club but I'm staying open. The SD theory is just that, a theory for now.
