looks like a Grulla or a Black to Me, Black foals look Grulla sometimes until they are shed out... just a Thought

my mare is a chocoalate grulla,her sire is a black grullo qu horse with 2 more generations of grullo an dun. an her dam is a blue roan sabino overo.the colts sire is a bay not a dun tobi.if you email me i have 1 pic of him.Tex has wide barring on his legs,ears an t-bars cross his wither an shoulders fading into shadows up his neck.he has a med print noticable spiderweb on his forehead .i was thinking same thing of him shedding out a grulla,i say zebra cuz he has so many dominent barring an dun factor.so far my mare has had 7 foals an all have had dun factor an none of the sires where dun factor but one.maxmuis mc cue (my sisters grullo stud from united kingdom ranch)-tina hyslop.That foal died last year he was a dummy foal but huge.sandy colored dun with stripes allover.have pics of him alive he lived 36 hrs an his name is jesse.

may be we can try to guess his color cuz he is the first to come out this color an i never bred him to a bay.he is day around his eyes an muzzle since bith an edge of ears.let me try to upload pics on my photo bucket k.

The mare looks she is sabino and may carry the silver gene. Grulla horses do not have a lighter mane than their bodies. Although, I am bit confused because her tail is darker. I would have to see her dun factor to prove that she has any sort of dun in her. As for the colt, he just looks like a bay tobiano. He doesnt have a dorsal stripe. Thats just counter shading. Even my foal who was born palomino was born with a stripe like that. It went away as he aged. A true dorsal is usally very distinct and much wider. EIther way, you have beautiful horses!

I bet hes a beauty...right now as foals always hard to tell the colors till they grow up as they would change.

ok ill try that with photo bucket,he does have other dun features,like white stripes down ears an the crosses across his back,he also has part of a rainbow stripe on his forehead,is he still a dun,im only asking cuz last years colt was a cream color an had all same marling that were very doniment but this colts are med.not dar.so does anyone think he will kust shed this out an to wait to reg him til his foal coat sheds?as for my mare her tail is salt pepper too.ill try to get close ups.wish i could put them on here.she is black with full roaning head an all then when end of june comes around an she fades to chaocolate an u can see light dun leg bars an ear tips an her dorsel is wide.but i can take a pictue now of it.i didnt reg her an paint refuses to change it i tried.so i had to put scattered white hairs though out her body coat in remarks.i had the same problem with her first filly i had cuz her sire wa my palo overo stud.

The other foal does look like it has dun factor. It almost looks like it will shed out to be a grulla. Do you still own that horse? White stripes are not dun factor. Dun characteristics are darker than the body color. Does this little foal(Tex) have any leg barring or webbing on his face? Its hard to tell sometimes on a bay colored horse. He could be a bay dun but I dont think he is a grulla. It is sometimes very hard to tell when they care foals. I would wait until he is shedded out to get him registered just to be safe. As for your mare, wow I have no idea what color she is. I am guessing that she may be a dun but I would have to see the dun factor. She may be a black but sunbleaches in the summer thus becoming more chocolate looking. I could help you get pictures on here if you needed me to. Do you have any sort of instant messenger?

Thankyou,i have messenger but would need help with that too.i took pics of the barring an ear tip with extra shadowing,he has a top of a web that i can see but has a face marking.messenger should be i have american03pride1@yahoo.com messenger on there is american03pride1 .
i do know that so far all my mares foal have shed out with the dorsal stripes being doniment an having ear tips an some having leg barring.she does have the wide dorsel.i can see it year round but to get a pic is har cuz of sun .you have to see it in person.i can get a pic at a certain time in summer when her summer coat lightens up alittle.i forgot to get a pic of her tail.lol.there is new pics on there of Tex an his points.
