the othe colt is out of my mare from last year.the lighter one.he is breeding stock.i forgot to tell ya my mare has roaning white hairs though out her body head an legs to thats why she didnt qualify as a blue roan as her dam is one.he dam is a sabino overo too. Silver Lace Request is my mares reg name if you want to look her up.maybe then you can help me with more choices on colors she can throw.I did a foal color chart. It gave me bay dun,grulla,,black,rare-zebra dun 1%.i was hopin.ya all broke my heart, lol.

A true roan will always have a darker head with no white. You might have a bay dun. It says that your mare is registered as a grulla. Wow. She has a lot of things going on. Maybe the silver lace part of her name is because she also carries the silver gene? But I am not sure of thats possible. Now you really have me curious! I will add you on yahoo messenger and we can chat about this and I can help you actually post pictures instead of just links

I think that baby will be grulla too.I am starting to wonder about my filly too,She has a light dorsal strip from her tail to her white.Misty thought she would be black and white but now is wondering if she might stay grulla colored,The babys are beautiful

i was soo amazed by her coloring when i saw her on dreamhorse for sale an said i have to have that gorgouse horse. then when the guy delivered her an she stepped off the trailer my jaw dropped an his price went up on the trade with cash added.i did it thow.she had no training on anything-bathing,saddling,briding,ear touching, the whole works.within 3 months my kids were on her.she is that smart.we can even milk her by hand if a orphan needs milk.Paint an i went round an round about this color thing an only would let me ad that remark to her papers, the colt also has roaning throughout his coat

In order for a hores to be a dun(grulla in this case) there needs to be at least one dun parent. Sherides, what was the father to your filly?

this is odd then.we think my mares sire is a black grulla.he is out of 2 grullas but is registered black.my mare ,as was mentioned in here, looks black to people too, but is a dark grulla.at 1 point of the year she's black with the dorsal an as she sheds she is jet black with her roaning still of course, but a month after full shed she starts to fade to a beautiful chocolate color with a diminent black wide dorsal an ear tips.you just have to see her when this happens its cool lookin.

I would have to say bay too.. only bc my bay colt had silver coloring under his baby coat and still came out bay and he does have a dorsal still thats countershadding and his looked just like your colts... his coat changed color a few times a weird light brown but turned as soon as he shed completely... my yearling now (the bay) still has all his counter shadding on his shoulders down his neck his back straight through to his tail... and his ears are also lined in black... I really havent looked under his forelock lol to check and see if he has any there... I would have to bet bay... but I guess you really wont know til he sheds out I wouldnt fill ank paper work on him and send it in... until hes shed.. to many horses are registered the wrong color now adays bc poeple wish they where some fancy color they were when their foal coats were on and once they shed there a completely different color.. they should make it madatory that no foal is able to be registered until they are fully shed out into their summer clothes lol... and pics should be a must no matter what..
Oh and my bays dam was my grulla mare and the sire was my dun stallion...
