Invisible fence works for some and for some it doesn't.My niece had a husky and he would run right thru it.They bought a really expensive one and spent a lot of time installing it and it never did keep him in...Have heard the same from others. appy Trails Jan

Well I hope my lab responds good to the underground fence. She learned quick with the horse fence at the farm, and is scared to be around the horses. We got her at 8 months of age and she hugged a horse leg when she got scared and she learned from that experience. I too live on a semi-busy road and seeing my dog plastered to the pavement is the last thing I want.

My husband has a basset hound/beagle mix and when his nose hits the ground he is GONE ! So we have the underground Invisible Dog Fence. I love it ! We have 2 collars so i can switch them out when the one gets low. I tell ya took 1 hour to train him and so far it has never let us down. DOWN FALL TO IT : If the power ever goes out in a storm or other it doesn`t work ! LOL Or if hubby hits the underground wire with the bucket of the tractor it doesn`t work either ! LOL

That's why I think I would prefer the fence over the radius one...because our land is odd shaped and that way we can put it right around the property line easier.

our Innotek has battery back up in case of power outage. you r supposed to spend some time training the dog to understand the bounderies...ours doesn't test it at all...he responds to the "tone" sound and doesn't push it any further. I really do like to have the training collar with remote as part of the system...there are times when I look out the window to see him in my flower bed or eating bird seed under the feeder and I can "tone" him and he comes running to the house!

We have the one you plug into the house and set the radius. We love it! Had 2 collars working off the same system in the house. They get to the point that they don't test the boundry even with the collar off or the battery dead. Actually that is a bad thing about all of these types of fences, the dogs won't follow us to go for a walk if we want them to.
Another bad thing was my 2 yr old dialed the radius down to the smallest and the poor dog yipped all through the house till it found the box and was laying on the floor right next to it. Kind of funny but after that the box went up high lol.
All in all it was the easiest to use, no wires to bury just plug it in put the collar on and its good to go. Oh another plus is that you can take it with you, if you have a cabin or stay somewhere else. It is called PetSafe Instant Fence we got ours from Cabelas.

The neighbors over a mile away have one.. POS their male non neutered MUTT is smart and goes just close enough to the boundaries that it sucks the juice out of the battery. (I think the dam dog is a Masochist) Anyways as soon as the battery offers either a much lower tingle or no tingle boom he is out of their yard like shot out of a cannon and comes here every dam time. Last time it happened I called them asked if their mutt was home, and they said "YES he's in our yard." So I said "Good then I guess you won't mind me shooting this big black ugly brute that is chasing my mare and foal!" Then they said "hang on a minute." they looked in their yard and low and behold the mutt was missing so they said "just yell at him he'll go home." I said "NO I am calling the sheriff and which ever one of you gets here first can take the dam with you thing cuz if it is still here in a 1/2 hour I intend to do away with it."
Gee go figure they were here in less then 5 minutes. And the dam mutt has not been here since. I've been told they went back to a snug collar and a long high cable with a runner chain for the thing to have excersize... I even offered to band their dang dog but the guy said "no neutering animals is cruel".. Pffftt the guy needs to stop playing arse ostrich and come up for air to oxygenate his gray matter. Anyways I wouldn't pay the pricey sums they have when often times the dogs are smarter then something man made to contain them. JMHO ~Cat~
