According to all the measurements, it should fit him. Its snug, but not tight. I can feel a bit of room all the way around, and when i sit in the saddle, it does not sit right on his withers. Theres still some room. Been having bucking issues that im starting to think are just him! Lunged him both directions tonight and not so much a buck. Got on him, walk trot - fine. Then he decided hes done and starts popping his hips every other step. Any suggestions? bought him this last summer and he was perfectly fine until i started riding 3-5 times a week. He's been up to the same stuff since about August and i think im going to pull my hair out in confusion

It looks like it woudl fit. Did you set it on him without a saddle pad?

Yep. Looked the same. Thats just a reinsman pad with the neoprene under side. Good quality pad, got it from TSC and its new. Been on him twice so far. He's SUPPOSED to be my replacement barrel horse, but lately i cant get past a trot with him! He's a 5 year old grade buckskin QH gelding, and a pain to boot but i love him, and wanna figure out whats going on. Mr. TNT is his race name btw, and Mr T in the barn.

One more thing I see that your missing, when you put the saddle on the pad, pull the pad up into the gullet to offer some relief to the withers. Then cinch up.
I don't have any suggestions for the bucking. Is it a big buck or something you can ride thru? Do you stop cantering when he bucks or do you ask for more canter?

Havent had a Chiropractor yet. Trying to get an appointment, but its really tough right now with work. The one i was able to get a hold of wants me to haul him to her, but during week days only. I work Monday-Friday 8-5 and with the hard times, its next to impossible to get time off of work, especially being 1/2 staffed and still doing all the tasts When he bucks, its a FULL out buck! Nice and hard. Hind feet are a good few feet in the air, although this evening at a walk, he did just "pop" his hips a little, but i didnt bother to canter. If the bucks not too hard, ill ask him to continue cantering and he usually will. But i try not to leave off on a bad note considering I was in a car accident and broke my right knee and shattered my right foot just over 2 years ago, so i'd like to iliminate injuries if i can. Was thinking of maybe taking him to a local trainer, Trevor Walton. He's delt with one of my horses before and did amazing in just 30 days.

Chiropractor is a good suggestion. Have you had his teeth done too? Some times that is a world of help. Do you think he is bucking to be a dink, or because some thing is bothering/hurting him?

Have you done a safety check on your saddle, to see if the tree is broken? If you place the saddle upside down on the floor and gently put pressure on diagnal places on it see if it twists.

Does it feel tight when you have just the saddle no pad on there? If it does the pad might be too thick. A thick pad can make a saddle not fit.
How closely does it follow his back? Is his back really flat? The saddle might not be allowing him to round his back enough.
Is this at both leads or just one lead? Does he buck on the longe line when you canter him?
There are a number of other issues that could be causing the bucking, From you being slightly off balance to him to his feet, legs, any other part of his body. I would guess that if he doesn't buck or act out at all when cantering on a smallish circle when longing it is more then likely the saddle or you. By you I don't mean that in a bad way he just might not be use to the way you ride or something like that.

stormie that makes sense and with her having an old injury on her right, she could be putting more weight in her left leg, and causing her to be off balance, and not realizing it in full.

The saddles in good condition. Fits good without a pad. I had once throught it was a pain buck, but he doesnt do it at all when fully tacked or just in the pasture. I had him fully tacked last night Canterng 60ft circles and making them smaller. No bucks.
No matter if i put a bit or S hack or jsut ride in his halter, he will still buck. I dont think its a mouth issue.

have you tried another pad? it may be that the neoprene isn't pulling when you aren't mounted, but pulls a lot more when you are... different pad materials for different horses, they do have preferences. Our stud LOVES, absolutely LOVES neoprene pads, the thin ones with hardly any padding - my mares, HATE, seriously HATE, neoprene pads, they both prefer cutback pads, Dixie seems to prefer the fuzzy fleece cutbacks, Tori rides better in the old style cotton duct covered, inside felt kersey, cutbacks OR the older style cutback /w shorter fleece bottoms. Eithrr mare is simply rougher riding in neoprene, they aren't happy & they let me know it by trying to jar my teeth loose. Was he ridden with neoprene before? if so was if the cutback neoprene or the contoured, rather than the flat standard pad? Have you tried adding weight while lounging to see if it's the pad? saddle & cantle bags packed full & an oldpair of jeans with the cuffs sewn shut and stuffed with weight/tied to the fenders & rings... lots of ways to test that...or try riding with different material pads? or can you contact the last owner to see if he showed a preference there or if they ever had this issue? or you could have his back heat scanned after he is ridden, see if there is a pinch you can't feel but shows on the scan???
