If anyone is looking for this and doesn't want to pay shipping, Citizens Feed in Charlotte has it by the pound for about fifty cents a lb. Food grade!! Google "diatomaceous earth" for more details about what DE is and does.

Dang, I wish I was closer. But by the time I paid for gas I may as well just pay shipping.

You can use it as a chemical-free dewormer. You can sprinkle it in your yard and get rid of fleas. Lots of good uses. We are going to deworm chickens with it by mixing it with their feed. It is no fun trying to dose a couple dozen chickens with an eyedropper!!

It isn't a perfect dewormer, but it seems to help. Mostly it helps with flies, the maggots can't hatch into adult flies when they squirm across DE particles in the manure. Also works for fleas, and garden bugs. Bad thing is you also lose you good worms, so I make sure I aerate my soil. Helps with grubs. Honestly it won't kill everything, but it does help keep things manageble with out using chemicals.

I used it in the garden last year. Mostly on the potato plants. We did use Taro for ants around the beats, ants love beats. It is useful in the home as well to keept the creepy crawlers down. You never have to worry about pets or spraying crap that gets on your walls, windows, furniture etc.

Does anyone know if this DE works for fireants? lol We have a lot of those at our place. I will have to call our mill and see if they carry it. I would like to try and eliminate flys, I have heard they are worse down here than MI and we have city type neighbors I would rather not tick off. Yes we have horses on 7 acres in a residentual zoned area. But we aren't the only ones, so I hope no one gets mad at us. We have been moving all the poo to the center of the pasture, to get it away from the other houses. Thanks Jennie
