www.wtok.com/home/headlines/39397497.htmlI have followed him on his website for a while now, and on several horse forums. I have seen his team before, never had a chance to meet him though. I cried when I read this.. my heart breaks for him and his family. I hope he pulls through!!

I am sure more information will be available later today. There evidently are conflicting information about just what happened, but one man posted a note on the guest book page who was there.
Here is a note from "Gene" with more information than was available on the news story:
Despite protests to the contrary from those who read articles in distant newspapers about the accident, and wish to argue facts of which they do not have personal knowledge, I must say that you can't believe everything that you read in the papers. Let me set Katie and anyone else straight and state for the record. The Macon Beacon reporter is correct as to his description of the locale. There was no hillcrest to limit visibility. There were no 'two trucks running side by side'.
I saw the accident occur. I drive a gasoline tanker for a company based in Columbus, MS. At approximately 11:30 cst this morning, I was southbound on US 45, 6.7 miles N. of Scooba, MS, when I came upon Bob. I recognized his rig immediately as I'd seen it this past weekend North of Columbus. I changed lanes left to pass the vehicle. As I checked the right mirror, I observed a T.K. Stanley vehicle changing lanes left to pass Bob also. There was a second T.K. Stanley vehicle following close behind the first. This second vehicle did not change lanes. There occured the impact which blocked the highway for approximately an hour and a half. Two of the beautiful horses were dead at the scene. I cared for Bob until the arrival of emergency medical services. Bob asked about the condition of his horses and of Clementine. I found Clementine and brought her to him until he was being prepared for transport from the scene to Meridian.
There was no one at the scene who appeared to be willing to take custody of Clementine. So, I sent my information with Bob to tell him when he recovers where Clementine is. I transported Clementine to Columbus and gave her to my wife who promptly took her to the vet. As of this writing, Clementine is staying at the vet's overnight for observation. The vet did say that for a dog of her advanced years (a woman never discusses her age) she is doing remarkably well given what she's just been through. She was ambulatory and her kidney/bladder funtions appear normal. If things progress as well in the morning, she'll get a bath and much T.L.C. until she can be reunited with Bob.
My thoughts and prayers are with Bob and for his speedy recovery.

I wish there was a way to get an update on the 2 surviving horses and which 2 have passed. My heart has just ached after reading this story last night and I just pray for Bob, his horses, his poor little dog and his heartbroken family. Anyone who may find any updates, please post.

If he was hit from the rear, my guess is the 2 horses hitched closest to the rig were the ones who died. But I don't know if he put them in the same position every time. Sure is sad that that happened. Was he on an express way or a regular road?

I did just see a new photo on the news link (above) that the black horse did survive but not sure which grey. They've also now set up to start collecting donations to help Bob. Just a sad, sad story......he will be in our prayers!

I just googled Bob's name and came up with all kinds of things. According to the articles, Deedee and Dolly were the two horses that were killed. It also said that he had been upgraded to "stable" condition and has been talking. So that's good news.
What a horrible (and preventable) accident. I hope he (as well as the other 2 horses, and his dog) pull through.

This is terribly sad. God Bless "Gene" for taking care of Bob's dog and whomever is caring for the horses.
I hate to say it, but watch for PETA and their ilk to use this as an example to legislate keeping all horses and horse-drawn vehicles off public roads.

I read on the guestbook that someone called the vet office where the horses are and the remaining two are in good shape.. I guess somewhere there is video of them on a news channel website.
I believe it was Doc and either Dee Dee or Dolly but I am not sure.. several websites say different things..
It sounds like he was on a 4 lane, but could be wrong.. the post I copy and paste said something about the trucker #1 switching lanes which makes me think 4 laner..
