Sacared: Thanks so much. He was halter broken, never been tied, never bred, been alone since he was weaned, had his feet done, slowly and carefully, but not much else had been done with him. The lady told me he needed life experience, and to be a horse, and have someone take him slow, gain his trust and make him confident. We work for just a few minutes every day at feeding time, I make him stand perfectly still, 3 feet from his feeder, will I pour his food, and that, if he steps forward at all, I ask him to back up to right were I had him park he cathes on and is so aware of everything I can bascically shake his rope and he starts going back. Then I take my hands or my stick, and started rubbing and talking, at first I met resiastnce any were past his neck, hes not mean in anyway, wonderful personality to him, trys to put on a tough guy look(will pin his ears and toss his head a lot) but he is easily encouraged to have manners, very senstive and a quick learner. I can rub him all over with the stick now, flank, belly, between back legs. And Ive had my hands all down his front legs, along his back, under his belly. This week we move towards the back end. He likes apples. I put a mare in with him(The BOSS mare) and he was very humble even before she kicked his ass. LoL. His face was just like "wow, I finally get to be with another horse, and she hates me!" Hes gentle with the cats and dogs, and anyting new you put in his pasture, makes him stand and stare for like 15 minutes. I will get new pics soon. He needs his mane combed out. I would love to get a cremello mare that be exactly what Im looking to do. Breeding currentluy just for me though. My goal is to have 6 horses Ive raised from the ground up.
