Soooooo exciting! We rode our 3 yr old filly for the first time on Sunday! Saddled her up and sat in the saddle...no rodeo ride at all! she just stood there, but we have done alot with her over the past 3 years to prepare her. We only took a couple steps with halter and lead. She still has some growing to do before we take it any further. We had the neighbor boy come over to take some pics for us...she looks like she is asleep in a few of them! I admit I had tears in my eyes...this is my little girl that I watched being born 3 years ago and to finally sit on her back was AWESOME!!!!

Aww reading this brought tears to my eyes remembering those days all too well. Several of my horses in my past I have raised as weanlings through to be awesome riding horses.
It is an amazing feeling the first time up on their back. It can be an amazing experience as it always was for me, or it can be a bone munching one. I am a firm believer in putting in all that work while they are babies to make the experience so much easier and better on them and you.
Would love to see pictures!! I have not started a young horse in a while, and this Spring I get to start Mocha.. He is 5 years old and not had much work done, so I am kind of expecting to get the rodeo ride once or twice.. we shall see..
