I am having a terrible time with her loss. All I can think about are what I saw this past week of her dying and burial. I need help remembering the good times. If you remember something fun about Bonnie will you please post here for me to read and remember. I need to focus on those good times and not her last week of life. Thank you, Jennie

I know when you got the harness and cart you enjoyed driving her. I remember pictures of her in harness.

Yes she was a joy to drive. Sometimes she was a snot too. I drove her in 3 parades, and one of them we had an encounter with a train. She was so good that day with the train.

Jenny..my heart goes out to you.I do know what you are going thru as I lost my 2 very favorite mares 6 months apart a few yrs back...I had to make the decision to end their pain..I try so hard not to dwell on their last days on earth but the wonderful healthy times we shared a trail together and it helps...also allow yourself time to grieve.I have wonderful memories of these mares and it helps so much. And it also helps to know they are no longer in pain. I rode my buggy horse in the Napoleon parade when you drove Bonnie? All the way home I rode next to you, my horse Maui with that huge buggy trot to keep up with ol' Bonnie's quick step. Out of all things, I think Bonnie really loved being driven. It showed in her enthusiasm and the spark in her eye when she hit the pavement with that brisk trot. :-)

I think sometimes they're snots at home just to mess with us, but really do know how to act once they get out in public. She knew that messin around with a train was not a good idea. Sounds like she was a pretty smart girl.

Bonnie was the first horse that took me on a cart ride. I felt so safe with her. And also, remember I kinda met you because of my love for fjords. She brought us together. I remember that first ride I went on when I first met you. I hadnt ridden for so long and it was great. She took great care of me and you were so nice. I knew wed be friends for life. I was thinking about her the other day and I really got sad.

Jennie I am so very sorry about Bonnie and I know exactly what you're going through. Mario's mom died six weeks after I got her and I watched her die and then watched them drag her away with the backhoe and bury her. Unfortunately, now that is how I remember her, being dragged away. You are lucky that you have plenty of pictures of Bonnie to remember the good times. Her death will never be easy for you because of how special she was to you and your family. As for my memory of Bonnie, I remember how very gentle she always was with your daughter at all the speed shows. I also remember you talking about skijoring behind her last winter and how much fun it was. Hugs to you and your family and know that I think of you often and really miss you now that you're no longer here. I wish we could have gotten together more often before you moved. Take Care, Brooke

I am again sorry for your loss =( I lost a mare November 2007 and it knocked every last bit of air out of my lungs and it seemed like weeks til I took another breath =(
I always try to remember the good times with her, and you should do the same with Bonnie. Do not dwell on her last days, dwell on the reasons you two loved each other so much! I did not know you or her much, but I know that she was an amazing horse who must have really adored your daughter and you!!
*hugs*

2007 In June we lost our dog of 8 years to cancer. Then 2 months later i lost Blue to a tumor in the brain. That one year REALLY took a toll on me. You talked me threw my crying on the phone with you. You were SO strong for me when i needed a friend. I will always be ears and just a phone call away for you. It will hurt of a long time to come. Never forget the good times and just know she isn`t in pain anymore and is with all our other horses that have passed on. This isn`t going to be easy. Just wake up and take a deep breath in the morning and take it day by day. Staci Hagan Boarding Stables
