I finally did it, I met some horse folks. When we got this land we are leasing, my daughter had to change schools. (no school of choice down here, you go where you live.) Well I had heard that the town was more of a farmers community so asked the office lady about 4H. She said she thought there was one. Turns out the leader is one of the teachers at the same school. She called me today and said they were having their meeting tonite. Ali and I went, Ali had a great time. She is the youngest but there is 2 girls a year older and they hit it off great. The parents seem very down to earth and fun. Our first thing we get to do is a trail ride at one of their farms end of this month. All the parents ride too! Only one parent is into buying $7000 horses for her daughter. That same parent says she's addicted to barrel racing and goes to the world show? They do speed classes for a class in their shows too. Barrel racing is big down here. Gosh I'm going to have so much fun with these people. They made us feel so welcome, not snobby or anything like I've heard about some of the 4h groups around. Ali is excited too. She said we need to work those mares to get ready for that big trail ride coming up. Aint that the truth, fat pigs ate a 1200 lb roundbale in one week! Is it cold there or something??!!!??

That is awesome. It is nice when you find a horse group that you can fit into. There are so many that are all politics that it takes the fun out of 4-H. And sometimes the bigger the group the more crap goes on. I started my own group here so my daughter can fo to fair with my group because the big group she was in is all chaos all the time. My daughter cried at fair most of the week last year and I said enough is enough. I am glad you found a nice one.

I'm glad that you found such a nice group! Our horse group faded away over the years so we joined a different 4H group this year. I'm hoping for good things, too! This group is into having the kids do the work...

COLD? HERE? Now why would you think it is cold here? It got all the way up to 10 degrees today. Won't be so lucky tomorrow and winds on the way.
Weather aside it is so nice you found a group already. Hope the horsies get there ok this week. Be sure to let us know and keep an update on how the 4H goes as you get more into it.
