Crucial Action Alert,:
Call to Action! S.B. 578 hearing is re-scheduled!
HB 4610 and SB 578 -
Wednesday Nov 4, 2009 - LANSING
Time to RALLY & Time to Git 'ER Done
Dear Back Country Horsemen Members and friends,
Your executive board members and special legislative liaison Tom Casperson have been hard at work meeting and talking with Senators, Representatives, and our lobbyists - Kevin & Melanie at Acuitas. We have a few key people who will testify to the Senate Committee for SB 578 - Right to Ride and they need YOUR presence and support at the hearing. We need to fill the committee room and hallways with our cowboy hats, bandannas, and riding helmets! The Senate HEARING is 1 pm. Room 110 Farnum Building.
AND... Even more critical is the "VERY STRONG PROBABILITY" that HB 4610 will be voted on by the House of Representatives that very same day -during the morning session at the Capitol! Reps Moore and Sheltrown want us to FILL the gallery with our cowboy hats. And if you cannot attend - be sure to call YOUR representative. Session starts at 10 AM! We do not know for sure what time the vote will come up or if it can happen on this day for sure....but will post it on our website/calendar as soon as we find out for sure. Www.bchmi.org
We've got to GIT 'ER DONE... It's now or ... An entirely new battle in the next calendar year. PLEASE. Do whatever it takes to be in Lansing and lend your support.
These are our TWO bills to regain riding rights on public lands and to create equestrian representation for land use.
Thanks so much for all your help,

It is time to come together once again. And please let everyone you know about this that has a vested interest in this.
We are at a critical turning point and we need all to stay vigilant and continue to call your representative and senator for their support. Especially those legislators who are not on board with our bill yet... Please spread the word to others that share our concerns about this important date! Please read below for more information.
(Note: End time of 3 pm is only an approximation.)
(Further down will be instructions for submitting
written testimony is you are unable to attend.)

The following is for those of you that will not be able to attend, but would like to submit written testimony:
_________________________________________________________________________
If anyone would like to submit written testimony for the hearing and does not wish to speak this is also possible. Please follow instructions below or bring it with you on the day of the hearing and present it to Joy Brewer who is the clerk for this hearing. It must be submitted before the hearing starts. And also 20 copies should be made if you are submitting it that day! Very important to follow these instructions!
If you are unable to attend: Must be addressed to the Committee Members as a whole not just to Senator Birkholz.
Please send letters to the Chair and Committee members to the Clerk of the Committee, which is Ms. Joy Brewer at jbrewer@senate.michigan.gov. Once Ms. Brewer gets the letters to the Committee, she will print them out and put them in the members' folders. These letters are also attached to the bill's report-out-file for the committee.
Also, I would suggest that someone fill out a testimony card checking off the boxes supporting the bill, and do not wish to testify. Also, write next to that submitted written testimony. This way it will be read into the committee minutes etc.
We need to encourage the senators to pass this bill in their committee to get it to the floor for discussion.
Our Right-to-Ride legislation has far-reaching impact on other economic areas of Michigan!
