Ashley Woman Dies In Horse Riding Accident

(ASHLEY) - An Ashley woman died early Friday morning from injuries she suffered in a horse riding accident in southern Steuben County. 35-year-old Sonya Bailey died at Parkview Hospital after she was flown there by the Samaritan Helicopter with an apparent head injury. The accident happened near 1950 West 700 South at about 8:30 Thursday night but the exact details are unavailable. Also called to the scene were Pleasant Lake firefighters, the Steuben County Sheriffs Department, Ashley Police and Steuben County E.M.S.. Bailey worked as a teller at the Farmers State Bank branch in Ashley. Funeral services will take place on Monday at the Beams Funeral Home in Fremont. Memorials are to be directed to the Steuben County Humane Society.
