I currently have a 10 year old paint gelding that I have had for 3 years....I also have 2 young daughters that have suddenly consumed our lives with soccer, golf, gymnastics, you name it. Well the one or two days a week I used to have to ride have sadly turned into one or two days a month - if that. My 6 yr. old had started getting into riding by herself and my 3 yr. old was doing great being led around. We have spoiled our boy rotten and he is very well taken care of. I never thought that I would actually contemplate placing him into another home, but we have all realized we are letting a good horse go to waste. He is become a little stubborn like he knows we just don't have the time to work with him like he needs right now. I cannot stomach the thought of him possibly ending up in a bad situation, but I hope to find the right family who would love him as much if not more than he is now My girls do not like the thought of him going away, but it is becoming harder to find the time....

you could lease him he could be at barn nearby where you can check on him or keep him at ur place. If you do sell you can make a contract that if the new owner can't have him anymore that he go back to you. For good home it 's impt of course you can check out their farm and get know them more so you know if they are right person for ur horse and if they click or not. I know it's hard decision! I go thru same thing!

If you do not want to get rid of him I would do a lease with a contract on him. Its safe, and if you ever decide you have the time for him again you can get him back. We have a gelding that has been leased out to someone on this board and she is wonderful with him. She has had him for about2 and a half years. When we have our own farm, we will take him back. In the meantime, he is being loved on there. Where are you located?

I'm not sure where in Michigan you are but one of the couples that adopted one of our rescues is looking for another horse - they are simple and easy to please but they take EXCELLENT care of their horse and dog. They would be interested in a free lease at their farm. If your interested in talking with them let me know and I'll pass on the information.

Don't have any advice, but feel free to post this on my board too as there are folks there that aren't members here.
