Can anyone help in the Jackson area?

I have a friend who lives near Jackson who is interested in learning to care for a horse. She is thinking about buying a horse. She would like to learn how to care for horses first. I told her about leasing a horse and she is interested in trying it out that way before she jumps into a big investment. She is about 40 and learns super fast. Willing to do all the hard work that goes with horses. She's a fairly good rider but hasn't ridden but a few times a year. She camped with us last week at Hungerford and did very well. She will also be looking to buy if she decides to go with it.

Is there anyone that could help her get started in the Jackson area? Have a lease available?

I live in SE Michigan so I can't get out there to get her started. I thought maybe she could volunteer at a boarding stable, lease, help a private owner, etc. You know we all are willing to help another get started in the horses.

If anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to post.

Would Onsted be too far for her to go?

I have a couple of horses that are sitting around doing nothing & need some attention! I've been having some health issues this summer, so haven't ridden much at all, but would really enjoy having someone to ride with on occasion.

I'm about 15 min. north of Jackson in Leslie. If it's not too far, please have her give me a call. I don't know that I can do an off-site lease, but I wouldn't mind her coming out & riding with me. And I'd be happy to show her whatever she wants to know. We have some senior citizens, so I could give her some details on caring for the geezer squad, in case she goes with a mature horse when she purchases one. (We also have a couple younger ones that are easy keepers, so it all balances out!)
