Does anyone here sell their chicken eggs? How much do you sell them for per dozen? or Do you buy fresh eggs from someone? How much do you pay? Mine are laying and I will have some to sell but I'm not sure how much to sell them for. Last year I saw a sign that said $1.25 per dozen on the side of the road. I don't know if that's a good price now or not. Thanks, Karen

I would say that 1.25 is an excellent price for a buyer, but for you as the seller you wouldn't be making anything. When the price of feed went up, many people raised their prices to 1.75 or 2.00. A lot of people would rather pay more for the fresh eggs than for the store-bought eggs, I know I do.

Down the road from me we buy ours for $1.50 in the summer, but that's only when the grocery store is more expencive. But it is still a very good deal because they are HUGE eggs!! My quail, phesants and ducks are already laying. Our phesants hatched 5 babies but unfortunatly they all died my dad was very sad.

Have you seen the prices in Walmart lately?? At least down here a dozen eggs at Wally World costs anywhere from $2 up to almost $5 a dozen!! The "organic" ones are always of course more.
I personally would LOVE to find someone here to buy farm eggs from.. I LOVE the taste of eggs from hens who are allowed room to roam, who are able to eat bugs and other sources of food not just chicken feed. We had chickens growing up and I want to get my own farm so I can have my own horses and the second BIG reason I get excited thinking about my own farm is so I can have yummy farm fresh eggs! There is just no comparison!

I was in Horrocks in Lansing a couple days ago and saw regular eggs were $1.50 I think while "organic" were $3.99. I sell them to co-workers for $1 b/c they wouldn't buy if they cost more than the store and I'd be overrun by eggs. I don't sell them to make money, just offset the cost a little. Personally I could do without the silly chickens.

I sell my eggs at work and to the neighbors and can't keep enough in stock. We have 100+ hens and they arn't laying worth beans now. We get $1.50 per dozen, but are going to have raise it to $1.75. And your right, nothing tastes better than fresh eggs. It really has ruined getting breakfast out. June

I just started buying eggs from one of the parents at my children's school. They are really nice, large brown eggs and she sells them for $1.50/dozen. I like eating them so far----they taste good and I like to know I am eating eggs layed by happy chickens that are played with by happy little girls and I like knowing where they come from. One of my goals this year is to eat better---more homegrown and from scratch foods and to eat locally as much as possible. I wouldn't be surprised to find you could charge $2.00 a dozen, and once you build up a few regulars it should be pretty easy to get rolling along.

I want some eggs! How far do you live from jrcdmom? Halfpint we should get together and go buy eggs from Paintwalker. I live in the south Lansing, Holt area. We could make a day of it I can drive ya out there, and we'll meet up w/ jrcdmommy and then she can show us how to get to paintwalkers house. Sounds like fun to me
