I am still needing to reduce numbers of horses here, and was wondering what other suggestions some of you might have. They are posted on the sale's part here. I am open to serious and reasonable offers. Willing to deal with people on most of the ones I have for sale. I am considering auctions at some point in the future, if I cannot find homes for them, but would like to know of any that are more prone to not have the kill buyers at them. I know Michigans economy isn't real great, and neither is it anywhere else. So any suggestions to other sales in Southern Indiana or Ohio? Thanks SReign

Have you listed them on the major sale websites like Horsetopia.com, Equinehits.com, Equine.com, Dreamhorse.com? I don't know what auctions are in your area but taking your horse to an auction doesn't mean a kill buyer is going to buy them. You can always 'no-sale' them if the price is too low. If you take your horse to auction, make sure you have a nice write up, pictures and post them on the pen your horse is in. Also, ride your horse around so people can see how it moves and behaves. I have not put a horse in an auction ever but if I did, that's what I'd do. I have seen people do that and have been interested in some of those horses in particular b/c the owner was available to answer questions and show me their horse. Good luck.

I believe western KY at the end of this month is the largest, nicest sale coming up.

i had a friend in ky. and he said the prices are not any better than other states, unless you have a top show horse or fine gaited horses you will not get much no matter where you go

some say it depends on what they can do but that doesn even cut the cheese now.. or on what they are.. but even that isnt getting much for the buck anymore.... You either have to decide to sell them at auction or give them away if they are not selling on the website... I dont know many people that are selling anything right now..I dont mean to sound harsh thats just the way it is... nice five grand horses that go to sales are going for a grand if your lucky or less... some get what they want, but they are also ghost bidded by the sellers friend if they get a bite..on one buyer bidding they get that person to give more money bc they OOOOOOOO SO WANT HIM... Shippsy prices and sugar creek are fairly cheap and if they go there and dont know anything if you have a lot of them a majority may not end up in such a good place.. just the reality of things..

I have put them on quite a few sales sites, plus my website. I have been able to sell a few late last year, but still need to reduce the numbers more. My father had major back surgery and is telling me to get rid of them. If I take them to a sale barn there will be no coming back.. that is why I would like to find a different solution. I am willing to deal on prices. I think the next step is just going to be cutting the prices down on them, and hope that someone becomes more interested.
Thanks for the responses. T.

I think you are correct. Drop your advertised price. Some people may consider offering you less than advertised but many may just pass your ad up for one of the many lower priced horses on the market now. In this economy, it is going to be tough to make money in horse sales. If you want them sold, drop the price.

I would suggest lowering prices in this market.Yes your horse to you is worth every penny but people just aren't spending,My daughter has nice horses for sale and hardly gets a real interest. It is just the econemy.
